Polluting every internet forum with Kill Pics....but I like it. Always envious of your trigger time, be they large or small. Your Micro Game maybe most impressive. Pack Rats....

For certain there isn't anything still alive within 30 mile radius of your compound

No action photo yet, but I slapped some new furniture on an old 870 I had laying around. Added a new extra power mag spring and aluminum follower. With the Carlson coyote choke is spreading 4 buck in a bowling ball size pattern at 40 yards. Ready for calling on the river!

Ditto on the shotgun! 80% of my kills are with a shotgun. My setup is a Winchester SX3, Kicks Gobblin Thunder .680 choke, shooting 3 1/2" Remington Wingmaster HD T shot. I use a Nordic Components mag tube extension as well. It currently holds 6+1, I'm going to add two or three more next year. My longest kills are at 69, 70, and 72 yards. All were DRT. The patterns and penetration I get that far out are pretty impressive. This setup accounted for 11 coyotes and a fox this year.

Topped it with a kahles 3-9x42 shot great on paper. Will post a kill shot when I get a chance to use it.

I'm very interested in getting a 22 Nosler. I have a great lower I use with my 204 Ruger upper. I'm thinking of getting a 22 Nosler upper for that set-up also and having it all cerakoted to match my hunting area. The 22 Nosler would be used in the open, mainly coyote country and the 204 where cats might show up.

What kind of speed and accuracy are you getting? Did you get the AR Stoner upper from Midway or something else?

Thanks.

Yeah I bought the stoner upper. I had a five shot group with the factory 77gn hpbt that was just a shade over an inch. If I could shoot better I'm sure it would be a 3/4" or 1/2" gun. My magneto speed was on the fritz when I went to shoot it. Not sure on speed will confirm soon and post my results. I have some 55 grain Barnes ttsx that are super fur friendly in my fast twist swift that I'm going to try in the 22 nosler as soon as I figure out a safe starting point and have time to sit at the bench and tinker with it. I zeroed it at 200 and am hitting 8" low at 300 so my guess on velocity is around 2875-2900 fps.

I like your thinking on bullets. I don't mind a small exit from a tough bullet that won't splash on a shoulder or other bone hit. I've been carrying a 25-06 loaded with 100gr Swift Sirocco II bullets at 3187fps in the feed truck some. I call with smaller guns a lot, but this late in the year all the coyotes I see feeding are smart and I'm usually taking either a long shot or shooting at the back end. Good place for a 243 or 25-06. The 100gr TTSX and Sirocco are the most fur friendly bullets I've found for the 25-06. I just started shooting 85gr Speer SPBT bullets from the 243 at 3333fps, the only coyote I've used them on had a big exit.

I've got 2 main rifles I use on 'varmints'.

My CZ 452 varmint in .17hmr is a great rifle. I use it on lots of smaller stuff but I sometimes shoot other stuff with it if it runs out while I'm after small stuff. It's hard to predict when the pigs will run out in front of you sometimes.

My main varmint rifle is a Sako L461 in .222. I've mostly used Sierra 55gn SPBTs in it, as I often shoot medium game with it, but I'm in the process of loading up some 40gn Nosler BTips in it, which should be good on the smaller critters.

Here is a picture of a fox I shot while it was in the process of eating one of our native birds.

I used to own a Tikka T3 S/S in .223, and it shot a lot of foxes, too.
