With cooler weather they will be close to their den or really slow if out at all. If it's warm they will still be active.
Watch out for nice warm sunning spots, rocks outcroppings etc.
By late Oct they ought to be in their holes for the winter but you never know! It will likely be freezing at night during late Oct. Keep an eye out during the warm part of the warmest days and you'll be good.
I've hunted Unit 21 the last two years in a row. We hunted opening morning, Oct 15, and never saw one. I'm thinking it's cold enough at night to send them into their holes. It was down into the 30's at night. Like stated eariler, if it's still warm, I'd be cautious. Good luck.
