I'm letting my buddy use my 7mm magnum. I have a choice to take a 7 1/2lb Model 70 featherweight in 7mm-08 shooting 120 TTSX's at 3000fps or a 12 1/2lb Savage Model 12 VLP in .243 shooting 105gr HPBT's at 3000-3100fps(Still tweaking the load). I don't think I need to haul 3 rifles across the country...lol.

What's the question here?

If I want to lift weights....... I go to the gym.

Funny how things work out. I took both rifles shooting today and the load I thought was going to pan out for the 7mm-08 never showed up. It shot terrible, like 2 moa. I found a load for my .243 that will terrify pennies! Looks like I'm taking the .243 as I'm out of time for more load development. I did shoot some milk jugs filled with water to see what the 105gr HPBT would do. First two were devastated, 3rd had a hole through it but I didnt find any bullet remains. I'm thinking it will work just fine on behind the shoulder shots.

I have one more thing to try to get the 7mm-08 to shoot 120's and then I'm moving on to 140gr or maybe even a 162 ELD-M.

My wife will be using a 243 with 105 gr Amax's this year. It is the only bullet I have used in that gun and have always had good results from coyotes to pronghorn to deer. I was skeptical using a match bullet but that combo has downed probably 15 animals so far with no problems. If it seems to penetrate and expand I would say go for it.
