Drew the northeast corner of New Mexico (56-59), so now just have to wait for Ranch assignments and see how that works out.

Who else is headed to the land of enchantment to chase Pronghorn?

I've always been puzzled that New Mexico assigns a ranch to these hunts. What is the benefit to the ranch? Are they forced to?

Truthfully I am not totally sure why they have it setup like this. I know it’s tied in to the landowner voucher program. I.E. if you want to get landowner vouchers to sell you have allow a certain number of state Draw hunters on your land as well (kind of like Utah’s CWMU program except the draw is open to nonresidential as well). Many areas with Pronghorn are mostly private land and leased state land, but there are other areas where they live on BLM, etc.

Swampokie, I saw that yesterday when I was finally able to get signed on and download my license. I'll be in 59 as well, on a ranch straight south of Clayton.

I’ll be right next to you in 40. Great goats in 39 & 40. Good luck
Right on! Same to you. I live down near Clovis and see the bucks every time I drive North. My ranch has plenty of acres for my search. Hoping to come out with a nice first time lope.

I see some monsters around Clovis all the time. Similar to you the ranch I’m hunting is huge. I’m going to search for the “right one”.

Looking forward to seeing your results!

Beautiful bucks. How far out were the shots? Also assuming these got mounted, where at? And good meat processing in the area?

His was a 150 yard shot and mine was 200.
They are getting mounted at Imperial taxidermy up in Santa Fe. He used the meat processor in Ft Sumner.
I’ve used them before and they do a good job. I was also told that a new place opened in Portales, depending on how close you are to Clovis.

I’m just counting down the days until both the hunt and when I can pick the mounts up!

Let me tell you... antelope jalapeño sausage or chorizo is... YUM!

Thanks for the meat idea. There is a place in portales that's what I was told. How much longer til you get the mount back. I'm hoping to get a nice buck for a shoulder mount just depends on the cost.
