So who has been lucky enough to have Colorado Surf and Turf?

Marmot and Trout make a fine meal when you run out of food a day or two early.

I cook them on a spit normally, but if I remember to bring aluminum foil I will use that as well.

I've thought about it many times while they chirped at me as I glass for deer, but haven't tried it. How is the meat?

It doesn't taste like chicken by any means, but if you shoot or trap the younger ones (the 2 in my pic are old), they taste pretty dang good.

Man the ones I have come close to Smelled like Ass.. I don't know about the chicken part, Maybe they are better than expected. I think I will just carry an extra Mountain House meal.

I can't believe someone from Texas would be scared to eat marmot!

If you get married down their and get a divorce, is she still considered your sister?

Last year we had red squirells and trout for dinner a couple of times. Even had a grouse one night. I brought a small cooking grate and just did them over the fire. It was a nice change from the backpacking food.

Just curious, what kind of wood would you use to cook over?

"grab some more of that juniper there Leroy... We're gonna have some Gin flavored Marmot"!
