Good choice, I am enjoying the new 5500 myself, been taking it turkey hunting with a make shift seat. works great and packs down small.

Well, after waiting 5 weeks for my Exo pack to ship it arrived yesterday. I took a chance and pulled the trigger on this pack without ever even touching an Exo before. The ranger looks killer and the pack seems to be well made and super light. What really got me jacked was how well it fit my body and how easy it was to adjust. I threw 40lbs in it and took it for about 4 miles(mostly off trail through timber) and this pack is without a doubt the most comfortable "out of the box" pack I've ever strapped on. More testing to follow this weekend but as of now I'm very impressed with the pack and also as you all know Steve and the guys at Exo are top notch when it comes to customer service. Thanks guys

Got my and my brothers packs in the mail today. In case you are wondering how the 3500 and 5500 look when they are compressed, they are about the exact same. I don't think you can really tell the difference. Here are a few pics. 5500 is on the left.

Is that just the lighting or is the stretchy fabric an off orangy green?

Going to dig up and old thread here. I just sold my 2014 Exo 3500 which I loved. I Saw the 2017 updates and wanted to try the new K2 3500. My question is, for those who have had both the 3500 and the 5500 is it worth to go with the 5500 just in case I need the extra room? I never had a space issue with my 3500 but I keep thinking why not just go with the 5500 in case I need it. Is the 5500 a lot more bulky? does it compress down like the 3500? I saw the pics above but want some more first hand experience.

If the extra money is not an issue, go with the 5500. That being said, I will be able to get all my gear for a 7 day hunt in my 3500. So I do not regret getting the 3500 and saving some money for extra gear I needed. Having the roll top and floating lid will also give you a lot of extra space in the 3500 if you need it, and you can always use the space in between the bag and the frame if you need it. My 2 cents.
