I have an opportunity to pick up a good condition 1st Gen EXO 3500 for about the same price as a new "lower" quality pack (Badlands, Eberlestock, etc.). I'm limited on budget to something that fits within the $300-$350 range. Any advice on which direction you would go? I will be using it for muley deer and elk in Idaho. Mostly day hunts with some 1-3 day hunts sprinkles in occasionally. Thanks.

Given those choices I'd go with the used Exo.

I had one badlands pack and would avoid badlands like the plague. My cousin has had three or four. Badlands keeps sending him replacements. Replacing junk with junk gets old.

I don't know anything about the EXO. But my kid has an osprey aether that he has absolutely abused for 5 years and it is going strong. They can be bought for less than $300. They look like they would tear immediately, but his has been great. I may replace my kifaru with one. I'm done carrying 100 pound loads.

You shouldn't even be questioning this. Exo. Case closed.
