I'm looking for some information for a 2018 spring black bear hunt for myself, my dad, and my younger brother (14). Of the three of us I'm the only one who hunts but my younger brother is really starting to get the itch and I want to encourage him to get outside and hunt. He's been deer hunting with me a few times and is falling in love with the outdoors.
I've dreamed of a bear hunt with my dad since I was a little kid. I thought an out of state trip would be fun in addition to hunting deer and hogs around home. We'll be coming from South Louisiana so we will probably have to fly regardless of location. I plan on bow hunting and my brother will be hunting with a gun. My dad will be along as a non-hunter. I would prefer a spot and stalk, however, if y'all feel like a hunt over bait will offer my brother a better experience that is the priority. We are open to guided, diy, or some combination of the two.
What type of hunt do you recommend?
Are there other hunt criteria we need to decide on?
What state or province do y'all recommend?
Does anyone have experience with an outfitter they would be willing to recommend?
Is there a specific price point, excluding travel, we should be planning for?
