Wyoming Bighorns

Im going on a spring hiking trip/fishing in the bighorns with a buddy the last week of May, he is a resident and we were wondering if it would be a good idea to have a bear tag with us. The extra weight of the rifle, game bags and knives would be well worth it if he has an opportunity to shoot one. I understand that its not Idaho grade hunting but is there a decent chance of running into a bear or is it a waste of money if were not putting our whole focus on it?

I have spent quite a bit of time in the Bighorns, and have never seen a bear, or know anyone who has.
