Last Minute Bear Hunt

I recently moved to Grand Junction, CO for work and had a couple of weekends open up in June, the 8th-10th and 22nd-24th.
I’d like to work in a Spring bear hunt and am curious to hear opinions on where, not necessarily specifics. Obviously, CO is out and that second weekend may not work out in most states. I may just go fishing that weekend.
I’m not afraid to cover ground by foot and, at the risk of sounding more like a camper, I’d rather not see a bear than a bunch of other folks.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Between the dates I have available, possibility of units closing and driving time, it looks like my best option may be SE Idaho. This will be my first run at it so if anyone has any pointers I’m all ears.
