When the caribou are there, it is awesome. When they're not, it is an expensive camping trip. Up until 2015 things were pretty consistent in Manitoba. The caribou decided they didn't want to come to Manitoba in '15 and '16. It is my understanding that last year (2017) was back to "normal" in Manitoba. Who knows what '18 will bring. My experience up there was with Munroe Lake Lodge and it was a great experience in 2014. I killed two great bulls in three days and fished. The guys that went in '15 and '16 didn't have such good trips. 2017 was 100% again. Welcome to caribou hunting...

I just heard that the Province of Manitoba and the Territory of Nunavut just did a survey last summer of the Herd in response to it not coming down from Nunavut those two years.
