I like to wear a hoody around the house and at camp. Who makes a hoody that is ok for hunting. All the ones I have are cotton. I dont like to hunt in cotton. Not com but what about merino wool like from ice breaker. I am not sure how the weights (190, 200, 230) relate to thickness.

I was thinking of maybe soaking a regular cotton hoody in nikwax cotton proof. I have used the polar proof and it worked well. So maybe a a polar fleece would work well

190 is a reasonable all around hoody weight. I don't like them much heavier, but that's just personal preference. My favorite wool hoody is the Ibex Indie. My favorite synthetic is the NW Alpine Black Spider. I use them a ton in all seasons.

In the wee hours after a night time packout.

Under Armour's hoodies are polyester and we have a few around the house. I don't use it hunting, but won't hesitate to use it as a mid-layer for winter steelheading.

I like merino as a base-layer, and it makes a fine mid-layer too, but it doesn't replace a fleecy hoodie.

First Lite 230 Chama Hoody, Kuiu 210 Merino Hoody. Black ovis makes one now too I saw. First lite is the most comfortable. Kuiu is very durable. Can’t say anything about the Black Ovis, but looks reasonable for the price.

Last year I got given a Kuiu Peleton 240 I think it is.(full zip)
I didnt think much of it at the time but it has been one of the most used pieces of gear I have now.

Wear it almost daily, very light and pack-able. blocks the wind very well and breathes good for walking with a pack on.
Surprising durable and drys quickly.

My guide and brother both have the merino hoodie and they like it aswell.

Im no longer a 'kuiu fan' by any means but it is a good mid layer piece.

Sitka makes some hoodies in varying weights with face masks built into them. Ideal garments for bow hunting IMO.

wool- I also like the Ibex Indie hoody, fit is good, weight is just about right for a base layer in colder temps or a mid layer in warmer

syn- either the Patagonia R1 hoody or if camo is wanted, the Sitka Heavyweight Core- they are almost identical in weight/cut, both are high performers- these are a nice as an insulating layer in warmer weather or a mid-layer in colder weather

If wanting camo the kuiu peloton is very warm. For a highly breathable wool hoody check out the Vapor Hoody by Duckworth woolthat you can get through Schnees
