Uncompaghre Puffy Pant

Anybody using these Puffy Pants for 2nd Rifle in Colorado or similar? I was thinking of ditching a bottom base layer, but still keeping merino boxers with Kuiu attacks. I figured if I got cold while glassing/napping they would do good, and I could wear them in a 20* bag and not bring a 0*. Figure it would save weight, and is more versatile. Is it over kill for Southwest CO during the 2nd rifle?

Can’t speak to particulars, but the last 2 or so weeks of Montana’s rifle season I throw Kuiu Kenai bottoms in my pack depending on the conditions (snow/temp/forecast). They have come in handy for long glassing sessions, around camp, and have used them a couple nights to sleep in. I still wear a 145 merino bottom. The weight penalty is fairly minimal for the warmth. I’ve always been glad to have them.

I don’t bring them unless there is snow on the ground and am backpacking in.
