Better than Bullion comes in small (ca. 6 oz) jars in several grocery stores around central NM. Its consistency is about like partly crystallized honey. I used it car camping in lieu of the Ramen flavor packet. It works real well to my taste. There's three flavors now: the original vegetable paste, and now chicken and beef bullion (both organic FWIW). I used the original plus some dehydrated vegetables and it works real well. Might be able to load it into a plastic container and take it backpacking.

I'm not sure how shelf stable it is outside of the fridge or a cooler, but it's so salty that it ought to last a while.

Anyone else have experience with this in the backcountry?
