DIY Cordura Help

I'm starting to try and build a belt pouch for my Sony A-6000 Camera and am going to modify an Exo belt pouch to do it. My question is what kind of thread and needle do you guys use when doing this sort of work? Also, what type of padding do you prefer that would adequately protect the camera? Thank you!

#69 bonded nylon thread with a #18 needle. You could get some 2mm (I think its 2mm) "foamies" craft foam to try out. You will have to crank up the thread tension a lot to get the stitches right going through foam on a home machine.

I use the Gutterman Mara and a #14 needle on my Juki.You are going to want to seal all of your seams. ^^Pods nailed it on the tension....a crucial adjustment.

I've never sewn the foam to cordura or nylon though....maybe use contact cement instead?

Thanks for the replies! I don't plan on necessarily sewing through the foam, more sandwiching it in between cordura and sewing the seams
