Disclaimer: I've never sewn anything in my life...

What kind of machine & thread are needed to sew a stove jack through sil-nylon? My wife has a Wal-Marks special sewing machine, so I was wondering if I could make that work for me.

Yes it'll work fine. Thread tension it's the hardest part and keeping the jack position on the sil how you want it. I'd use pins on the inner diameter of the stove jack to hold it in place

I like synthetic thread but any heavy duty thread will work.

I used a standard machine to sew mine in. I used Gutterman brand 100% polyester thread. I believe it was the Mara 70? I can never remember between it and the 50-I used the thinner of the two and I believe a number 14 needle.
