I’ve been doing a lot of DIY this year and don’t post much but I’m pretty proud of this one.

I’ve been looking around for another sawvivor for quite a while since their discontinuation with no luck.

So I broke out the hacksaw, file and rivet gun and paid my homage.

Not quite exact since I didn’t have rectangle aluminum sitting around but I’m more than happy with how it turned out.

Just a little clean up filing left to do along with finalizing the tension screw but so far so good.

I managed to buck up some 6”-8” logs in the yard today.

Currently sitting at 10.5oz with the wood blade and meat blade in the holder.

Oh man, inspiration!

I never got one of the Sawvivor as they were discontinued before I got one but that it making me think about borrowing your design and have a go at making one too.

Great job

Thanks. Though I wouldn’t call it my design. I basically aimed for the “made in China” feel of the original.

It was really easy to make, took me about an hour.

I used 3/4 x 1/16 square tube for the body and handles. 1 1/2 x 1/8 bar for the hinges, 3/16 x 3/8 rivets. For the pins I used some eyebolts that I cut most of the eye off and bent to a 90.

The time consuming part was squaring off the threaded end of the tension screw.

Other than that really easy. I used 12” blades for personal preference. If you’re looking to do the same size I can post up the measurements.

Very nice work. I love my Sawvivor and hope it lasts a long time. If not, this will be on my list.
