I have a partial roll of Tyvek in the shop I thought I would make a small tent.
Maybe use it for a spike camp tent - as it weighs just ounces

Took a couple hours to make

The Tyvek is 36' wide, I used 3M duct tape, 1/2 grommets and para cord

Cut the Tyvek to length and taped both edges

Cut the Tyvek to the shape I wanted and added grommets at tape locations

Used my hiking pole for the upright, 10" alum stakes and added a guy rope out front.

Set it up overnight since its was supposed to windy overnight and today

Seems to be holding up just fine

Here is a short video - Tyvek tarp tent - YouTube

Brad,
Plus you get the full on subliminal advertising all night long....../grin

I would be afraid that I would get the urge to leave the backcountry and go buy a bunch of specialized plastics products.....

The trick is to crumple it up a few times, as it breaks down the rigidity of fibers but not the waterproofing.
Its not any worse than a poly tarp after that

If your house needs re-siding, get on it

What's a weight on that and how small does it fold up. I'm thinking I should make one for my big out bag I keep at the house....
