I'm headed to WY with a cow elk tag. We'll be there for rifle season. I've been trying to learn as much as I can about elk but still have one big unanswered question: are there any specific strategies when targeting cows as opposed to bulls?

I know I will be focused more on feeding areas but was curious if there were any other factors I should pay attention to with regard to cows.

I am no expert or even a experienced elk hunter. But I went to Wyoming last year for rifle season. Four of us. We each killed a bull. From my observation the cows and bulls were pretty well running together. We did see some small rag horn groups with no cows. Pretty much every bull we killed we saw cows with them. We did spot and stalk and some ambush style hunting. I am sure other more experienced hunters on here will have more information to share on this. Good luck. Its a great state to hunt in.
