Burns in October

So I will be chasing elk this year at the end of October. I’m wondering how to hunt the burn areas during this time of year. I know that elk love em in September, but wondering if they still use them at the end of October? I would imagine the bulls are trying to feed to put on some winter weight after the rut.

Any help/info is greatly appreciated!

Hunting cows in November I've seen more bulls than cows in burns I've hunted the last few seasons. This was in a draw unit though, so it may be different in more pressured OTC units.

Its no different. Burns create openings which in turn brings light, which makes the grass grow. You will see elk in burns all year as there is grass there and that's what they like to eat. Pressure will push them off, but burns are elk magnets the season doesn't matter.

Burns are good but they'll be getting crowded with Randy Newberg and others so focused on them these days. Elk live outside of burns too, you know.
