I was fortunate enough to fill my B List tag opening evening with a big ol dry cow

Im back home now and got the meat all taken of.

I thought it would be a good idea to weigh the quarters, as there are several threads discussing that

Here are the weights - bone in/leg cut off at knee

Loose meat [backstraps/tenderloins] - 23lbs

Front shoulder - 34 lbs each

Hind quarter - 51lbs each

Total = 193lbs

The meat is fresh and cool. Less than 24hrs from field to home
This should give a good idea of what to expect

Good luck this year

Good job cnelk! I remember you from years ago on the elkcountry or elkcamp forum. I haven't been on there for quite a few years.

Appreciate you shedding some light with real world numbers. The only problem is everyone on Rokslide shoots 400" bulls therefore the quarters are at a minimum 100# each... usually more!

Thank you for the info. This definitely helps an elk newbie like me who's planning my first elk hunt this year.

Thanks. I actually started one of those weight threads. Hoping to be packing out that weight in 3 weeks. Congrats
