Out yesterday on an extended hike checking most of my cameras. All cams intact after two months out other than one bear bite. Saw good sign and was crazy hot....first day out will be Saturday
Better luck than me. Went to pull a couple and one was stolen. Other was intact. Hot, lots of sign and pics, very little bugling. Almost that time though.
Tomorrow is opening day and I will be at my desk only saving grace it will be a 100 degrees the next two days. Bring on the cooler weather, no moon and screaming bulls. Waiting to crack this bottle soon Good luck to all this fall
How's the smoke up that way? I think most of Colorado is blanketed in smoke coming from the NW. Yesterday I went up to set up camp and was 3 miles from a large mountain top and couldn't even see it through the smoke.
good luck ross. We drove out to NM over the long weekend and did some scouting for our upcoming season. I have a trail cam in place up there (put it in during spring turkey season) and had limited success with it. I was using the Bushnell wireless aggressor hoping to get text messages when pics came in. But unfortunately up on the mountain I couldn't get enough reception to pull it off. However, it still works as a regular trail came ra. I had it in video mode, and got 4 months battery life before it went dead. A few cool videos of Elk in the snow, and a decent black bear strolled by too. A few deer pics, but nothing terribly exciting. Because the camera batteries died in July, I didn't get to see the full potential on antler growth of whats coming by. Oh well...its reset with new batteries and back in place taking pics for the next few months until I can get back there.
I think I put it into camera mode 24/7, but REALLY wish I wouldn't have changed the settings. The elk were starting to get vocal and fire off up there......dammit. Would have been good to capture some of that on video.
Well Ross it looks like you got yours back. I have at least two at the moment that are surely melted plastic and two more that will most likely be by tomorrow. With any luck my last two will survive tell Saturday when I can retrieve them, if that portion of the woods isn't shut down by then. Lot of timber going up in smoke.
First two days out about sealed the deal on Saturday had some fun bugling left a lot of boot leather on the mountain and one nice hornet sting on the hand while raking. Hand was nasty looking for two days the bees are bad thIs year. Grabbed a winter camera and looky what I found going to hit this spot this upcoming week and just placed the other cam a week ago need to change the angle but a nice pounded seep Weather is changing soon going to get good
A couple more for fun also For more experienced diaphragm callers Corey nailed it with his new call..I bought two to experiment and promptly bought two more super crisp bugles a little more difficult to get it right than the all star but when you do
I'm sure glad the smoke cleared in CO, at least for now. Made for a much more pleasant experience for my daughter's first hunt. Go get them, Ross. Now that her hunt is over......I'm contemplating not even going for my archery hunt. But I'm still recovering and pretty beat up. That should pass.
