Wife got a last minute leftover cow tag so that worked out. I got my bull so that worked out, And thank god for horses. Both elk and a camp out in 2 trips. At least we got to ride back for the second load. 5 miles and a big mountain pass between us and the truck.

Recurve at 26 yards(first with struggle stick!), 7600 ft, 6x6 bull responded to a setup on a small park above him, cow called him into the edge of an opening. Already had a locate on him as he bugled prior, so we just set up above/beside him. I'll post a field photo as soon as I get it off of my friend's camera.

Not the best pics. It was hot and I was in a rush to start breaking him down. I'll post a full story later.

sorry for the picture quality. took everything I had to get him out of the dam he died in, and then quarter and pack him out before work the next morning. Ended up having to pack in chains and a comealong. Absolutely on hell of an experience! slowly eased my way into the herd over the course of 2 and a half hours and then waited quietly for a shot. ended up sending an arrow his way at 34 yards, He ran about 150 yards and died right in the middle of a beaver dam. scored him out at 384 7/8 which should put him close to if not the biggest archery bull killed in ND!

Wow thats awesome! Congrats big time! I believe youre right about it being the largest. Last I heard it was in the 360 range for archery. I had an E2 tag in 2012. How the heck did you get him out of the water?

Said I wasnt going to pass on anything this year. I had a two year dry spell going and the wife and I wanted elk meat in the freezer. Shot the first elk I had a chance at. Nice easy pack out. View attachment 57756View attachment 57757

I packed in about 90lbs of chains and a comealong. got it hooked up to a tree and inched him out. It was a pain but makes for a good story now that its over. got him out of the water around 1:00AM so getting a pictures wasn't high on my list of priorities. I too had an E2 tag, this is a bull ive been watching for a couple years it was just a matter of drawing a tag.

9-17 DIY OTC. 4th set up on a herd. Wouldn't come to a bugle, cow call combination so switched to just cow calls. He came in hot. 22 yd shot 100 yd recovery.
