Spending day 4 in Helena as my rifle broke. Have the gun at the smith now. Anywhere around Helena to go see if we can spot some as I'm waiting on the rifle? Spent 3 days in the little belts and didn't see anything. Lots of atvs and utvs hard to pack back in far enough to get away from them.

Don’t know about up there but down near Bozeman a lot of the elk are already down. Sure there will be a few that held up in the nasty stuff, but I’m seeing herds down towards their winter grounds already, of course mostly private.

This warm spell has pushed the bulls back up to the tops again, just saw several nice ones at 6800 feet.

Yes sir we got into them tonight but i made the wrong adjustments on my scope and have officially missed my first big elk still a great time
