Hey everyone, I wanted to see if anybody had pictures of an bull elk shoulder mount In conjunction with 8' ceilings? I have a shoulder mount coming with My 1st bull and I had to do a shoulder mount! Just trying to figure out what it will look like. I know it will fit in my basement but I rather have it in the living Room so just wanted to see what it might look like

I have one over the basement stairs as that's the only place it's going to work on a "wall". So two more are going on pedestal mounts as soon as we finish up the pedestals. Was working on one yesterday. The way we're building them I can mount a wall mount onto them so I can also mount them on a wall if I have that space in the future.

Here's the one over the stairs.

I know your already doing it, but with low ceilings like that and with a smaller room, I’d go with a euro mount.

Not a big bull, but it was my first one. It was a little challenging getting it through the door. Also took a few days to get used to, but I like it now. And being in the east not too many people know if it's big or not.

Don't short cut yourself that's a nice ball. Is that a semi sneak shoulder mount?

I'm not really sure on the pose. I just told the taxidermist I wanted it looking to the left a little.

One thing to consider I have mine as detachable antlers so no issues placing them anywhere.

Tall bull in a short house

IMG_1593.jpgIMG_1594.jpgIMG_1764.jpg

This was my first bull. From the top of the antlers to the bottom of the chest is nearly 5 feet. Nose is 42" from the wall. Therefore he relocated to my dad's house that next winter when we traveled there for the holidays. There he has much more space and some good company.

Bugling mounts work great for low ceilings. Here is my first bull happy in the basement where my wife has banished all my mounts. :(

Those things are nothing but trouble. Girlfriends are the way to go. WAY cheaper to trade in on a newer model when the old one wears out. And they don't tell you where to put your animals. Or they get traded in...

Great call on the bugling bull. I see how it saves lots of vertical space. That's a good looking mount.

I am getting a floor pedestal on my bull this year. That way I don’t ever have to worry about wall space

I'm not a fan of the bugling mounts but I did a hard left turn on my bull and it seems to take up a lot less room than my semi-sneak mount.

This may be met with resentment:

Why not get the pose you want. Not the pose that is dictated by dimensions and you have to talk yourself in to. I am guessing that most people will not always be in the house/home they are in, and that eventually a house will be had with the tall rooms/ceilings. Until that point, make do with what you have, be it garage, in an out-of-the-way-room, or on loan to your parents.

Or just shoot smaller bulls! (Hah!)

And that's my thinking, which is why I'm building pedestals that can accept a wall shoulder mount. That way I can leave them on the pedestal or put them on a wall eventually if I have the room.

The tricky one will be my daughter's from this year. With an almost 50" spread, I'm not quite sure what mount to get yet that will fit in a corner on a pedestal AND fit well and look good on a wall.
