The guys at 1 Shot Gear sent me a fully outfitted Nosler Liberty chambered in 28 Nosler. I picked it up on Thursday and have been chomping at the bit to get it to the range. The weather was crap today but I was determined to at least run a few rounds through it. First I'll go over the set up and then my initial thoughts.

Like the title says the rifle is a Nosler Model 48 Liberty chambered in 28 Nosler. M48 Liberty™ Rifle — Nosler - Bullets, Brass, Ammunition & Rifles

The Scope they mounted on it is a Nightforce SHV 4-14x56 MOAR Reticle Illuminated C522 | 1ShotGear

Rings are Nightforce Ultralite 30mm Scope Rings | 1ShotGear

Bipod is the Evolution Bipod and is mounted on their rail.

My plan for this rifle is to shoot it with factory and hand loaded ammo so I can get some good info for both user groups. Today since the weather was nasty I only shot 6 rounds each from two different factory offerings from Nosler.

The Trophy Grade ammo loaded with 160 AccuBonds was first, followed by the Trophy Grade ammo loaded with 175 ABLR.

Trophy Grade Ammunition — Nosler - Bullets, Brass, Ammunition & Rifles

Trophy Grade Long Range Ammunition — Nosler - Bullets, Brass, Ammunition & Rifles

Both shot right at 1 M.O.A. and had pretty decent velocity and ES. The 160 AB ran 3277, 3278, and 3307 fps for an average of 3287 and ES of 30 fps. The 175 ABLR went 3082, 3087, and 3111 fps for an average of 3093 and ES of 29 fps.

The barrel measures 25 1/4" from the front of the action to the end of the barrel and has a 1/9 twist rate.

Some info on the Liberty from the Nosler website.

Every M48 Liberty Rifle Includes:
  • Nosler Model 48 Custom Action
  • Stainless Match-Grade Barrel
  • Lightweight Aramid Fiber Reinforced Composite Stock
  • Glass & Aluminum Pillar Bedding
  • Hinged Floorplate
  • 2-Position Rocker Safety
  • Crisp, Hand-Tuned Trigger Pull
  • Cerakote® All-Weather Finish
  • Guaranteed M.O.A. Accuracy with prescribed Nosler Ammunition

How much does that right weigh in that configuration?

Can you test out the "back to zero" reliability with those rings, after removing the scope with rings from the bases and then reinstalling it? A before and after.

I have the same rings (6 screw) on their way to me, except in the low height. I am wanting to use this scope setup on multiple rifles and wondering if the rings will lock back down the same way every time and hold that zero.

Looking forward to your'e tests results, i have the same rifle with a Vortex 6-24-50-Viper, with a brake, trigger set at 2.5 lbs.I shoot the 175 factory ABLRS and recorded slightly higher numbers. I shot 4 rounds, with the lowest at 3141, and the highest at 3192, for an average of 3160. Iv'e had mine about 8 months, and killed my elk at 534 yards, one shot in the lungs, and dropped like a sack of cement!

I haven't weighed it yet but plan to and would guess right at 10 lbs as it sits in the photos.

I'll do that when I take it apart to weigh everything. I've never thought about switching scopes in that manner but I found it interesting yesterday as I put my Leupold 6.5-20 back on my 6.5-06 AI that it returned exactly to zero.

I would expect them to. QR models of rings like that are made for switching up between rifles. I know NF's Unimount is designed for that as well, I just didn't want the extra weight or cost of the Unimount so went with the lightweight rings.....and hoping that they return to zero as well.

I took everything apart to get some weights. Didn't get a pic but the bipod weighs just under 16 oz.

Bare rifle is 123.9 oz (7.74 lbs)

Scope bases are 2.95 oz

Scope with rings 33.5 oz

The bedding looks clean as it should on a rifle in this price range. The pictures make it look kinda rough but it's much better than what I've seen on similarly priced rifles.

The action features a machined recoil lug.

Tried to get some pics showing bolt clearance to the scope. The ring height is .885"
