what ring height will i need with a 44mm obj vortex optic (30mm tube) sitting on a remington 700 (7mmRM and 338RUM), with a single piece leupold 15moa rail?

i'm not stuck on that rail, but it seems decent. not sure what rings to go with just yet. looking at a few options. i'm thinking with this rail i may be able to get away with low rings. what say you?

thank you

Lows

I run lows on all my 700's with a one piece rail. Extra lows might even clear.

I think I got away with lows for that exact setup. I barely have clearance for the bolt but it still cycles.

More vertical adjustment also stronger mounting system but heavier

One Piece Rails are a better mounting system. Actually if you use good rings, and bed the scope base I wouldn't bother lapping the rings.

I've never bedded a base rail but plan to with the 2 new ones I get. I'll lap the rings if needed but hopefully very little to none is needed

I just mounted a Leupold Mark 4 4.5x14x50mm on a Browning A-bolt with a rail and used NF UL low rings and still have plenty of clearance.

You gotta love the short bolt throw on the A-bolt......doesn't even come close to scope.
