Time to breath some life back into the thread. After 3 years, my rifle is finally done! Now I need to go put some lead downrange and see how she does. Have some load development worked up for it, but I'm gonna use the HSM 180gr berger ammo for initial sight-in and testing.

Matt

Scope = Bushnell Elite Tac XRS 4.5-30x50 w/Horus H37 reticle.
Rings = Warne Maxima Steel.

On the topic of precision rifles, what is everyone's opinion of stock/chassis while hunting? My friend and I were having this discussion today, I want a chassis for my next rig and he thinks it's taboo that I should just get a manners and that it's not a hunting gun if it has a chassis?

I think first it would depend on the chassis. Some, would do better than others. The one I am running(and the rifle for that matter) are never going to be used for hunting. Pretty much just ringing steel at distance and the occasional coyote. But the LSS for example is a great option for a hunting rifle chassis. It fairly lightweight and is pretty simple. Now my preference for a hunting rifle is a more traditional stock. I really like the carbon Manners stocks and I have ran quite a few Bell & Carlson stocks.

Funny you mention that.

Tikka 300 wsm in a LSS with folding stock so only 34" long for backpack carry.

10.5 pounds all up.

178 eldx at 3180 fps work shoot just fine out to 800 so far and not too shabby velocity for a 24" 300 WSM

Helping me prove my point! haha Thats a great setup. 10.5lbs for a fully set up hunting rifle, in a chassis, is not bad at all.

Yes indeed!!! Would be about 10 pounds even if I took off the folding adapter but I like being able to put it in the pack and not have a tower above my head ;)

One of the best reasons to chassis along with huge range to fit LOP to anyone as well as cheek rest height and such.

rfuhrman, What barrel profile and brake are you running on the 300 WM? Also, how do you like the EH1 stick? Do you feel like there is enough stock there for shooting prone or do you wish there was more there?

That is a sweet looking set up. How are you liking your X5? Swaro offered my one to try out, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

First...what an epic collection. They all look pretty bad a**. And what/how did you get that pattern on there? Cerakote, dipped,etc..? Looks awesome!

I cerakoted all of the gun above. I use a combination of hvlp and airbrushes along with custom stencil packs purchased from freedom stencils. If your in Bozeman and are interested in having something done pm me!

Danmayland - what app are you using there for your shot counts etc.

Elk elk goose - any idea what the finished weight of your rifle is?
