Dewey's are nice and they offer models that don't have the "back assward threads"; there are also female jags and brushes available for the male threaded Dewey, check Brownell's. Pro-shot and Bore tech make nice rods too. Hard to say which is best but I'm really liking my Bore tech and Iosso nylon brushes. As long as we're talking Bore tech, I'd recommend their Eliminator bore cleaner, and their C4 carbon cleaner has worked well on gas operated actions.

on the recommendation of a couple of smiths I don't own a carbon rod. but I do clean a lot and they know it. the average shooter probably don't clean as much in a year as I do in a week. In which case the damage from a carbon rod is highly unlikely. the carbon flexes and many consider the carbon harder than the barrel steel. I don't have an opinion but do listen.

currently I have Dewey, bore tech, and pro shot rods and they all work fine. the bore techs have been replaced by bore tech because of the coating coming off. [a problem you don't see on a dewy] the only problem I have heard of with a dewey is the bearing wearing out and you can get new bearings from Dewey [ maybe for free]
added-if you go to the right supplier you can get jags to fit the dewey with out the adaptor.
