Just hasslin ya brother!!

Be honest with ya the Barrett just can't be beat in normal short action calibers for the value. Twisted right, short throats, carbon stock, full length bedded all up for 1500$ or so. 5 pounds... add in the beefier base mount screws.. you ain't building one for that price.

The only reason I don't own one currently is Twofold. I get Leery having a 2500$ setup laying around and I want to own 22lr, 223 and a 7mm-08 all in the same general platform..

I was in the same boat as OP with the 12fv in 6.5. I added a Boyd's Pro Varmint Stock on it, a 6.5-20x50mm scope, and just accepted that it wasn't a gun I would be carrying very far. Its a great gun for the price and shoots great, just not something I will be packing into the backcountry. It will be perfect for Antelope spot n stalk and whitetail stand hunting.
