Patching boots?

I’ve got a pair of Schnee’s Beartooths the soft part just above the heel was torn by some rocks this past year. Not a big deal until I get into snow or water. I can feel the water starting to seep in. I’ve got another year season left in these boots. Has anyone had success patching this area? Thinking of using some Silnet with a light rubber patch and stitching it. Or pay the $75 or so to have the local shop try it.

I would have the shop attempt to fix it. Unless you have the right type of needle and thread, let a professional fix it.
