2017 Merriam Pursuit

Merriam Turkey 2017 is a wrap. Most memorable moment was in a lucid dream Mother Nature whispering in a calm, nurturing voice "Are you sick of these 20+ mph winds yet?" I respectfully replied "Yes Ma'am". She just smiled and said "Good because **** you, here's another 40 mph to add to it and snow for giggles." The Sawtooth just smiled back and gave her the middle finger keeping us warm and protected as we weathered the storm.

Just another incredible, unforgettable adventure shared with a great friend. The turkeys weren't cooperating for me but what a special moment to see my friend get his first Merriam.

I heard it said once there are two types of fun: Roller coaster fun which is fun in the moment and not very memorable. Then there's the fun that's so miserable at the time that you can't help but look back, never forget it...and just smile. That's the fun I'm after....and this trip did not disappoint.

great pics, thanks for sharing. Nebraska definitely had its way with me! we were easily a week early. rain and high winds first 3 days lows 30s high 40s, weather broke on day 4 and things were just picking up when I ran out of fun time. next year should be much better.

They were still flocked up when I left. I had 4 strutters with 30 hens 50 yds from my setup and they couldn't care less. Still a great time. Glad you made it home safe.

my buddy shot just over the back of a Tom that was busy topping a hen at 64 yds. he said there were >30 birds in that group.
