Rain Chaps ?

I have a Core 4 element rain jacket with pit zips that work well but no rain pants, other than heavy ones for fishing on the bay. Was thinking about these but not sure if it is necessary. From what I have read it might rain but usually they are fast moving storms. The first lite pants are nice but I bet they hold moisture. I have gaiters but thought these might be good for sustained rain. Since the crotch is open they would vent well, of course it limits protection but the jacket is doing most of the work, and if standing/ walking it should give good coverage.
