Whatever you do use Cold water, after that you cant really mess them up. If your wife doesn't want you throwing really bloody bags in the wash you can let them soak in a bucket of cold water first. Then a cycle or 2 in the wash machine and they'll be good as new. If you use hot water the bags WILL stain.

Do you wash with bleach then throw in once more for a rinse?
Just put a cap fill after washer is full of water also use minimal detergent. I use the regular cycle on cold cold. If she is home Ill also rinse in bucket of cold water outside to most blood and avoid the wrath, but when she gone I'll just throw them in there.

I just wash them by hand in the laundry tub and hang them to dry on my wife's lingerie rack...with her bras.

Technically, they're all fun bags.

She's said that she'll kill me slowly if I ever take a picture and post it.

My wife cringes every year, but I throw mine in the washing machine too. Just did it yesterday as a matter of fact and got the same
Lecture I get every year. Lol

Man it seems like none of the wives hunt along. This was my girlfriends first hunt and she killed her first buck. Packed it out and back packed in with me. Bloody washing machine was the last thing on her mind lol. Maybe when I get married it will be different.

I rinse them out with the hose in the back yard, then throw them in the washer and wash them, and then dry them on low in the dryer.

Ditto, but I run Caribou Bags. Several elk and antelope and they are still going strong.

I wash mine in a 5 gallon bucket with detergent and bleach until they are basically clean and free of odor. Then I toss them in the washing machine for a final wash using detergent and White Brite. I learned about White Brite from a friend in AK and tried it. My rather scungy-looking bags came out looking like brand new ones.

Give them a good rinse in a 5 gallon bucket with cold water and baking soda, gets 95% of the funk out to keep the wife happy.

Then cold water cycle in the washer and air dry. Good as new.

I sprayed them off good then threw them in the wash with a couple caps of Clorox I didn't have bleach. Still has some funk to them and some blood stains. When I get home I'll try some o your guys recommendations.

My wife washed them for me :D ! But next year I should probably check them first and make sure there isn't any meat scraps hiding out! Poor girl reaches into the washer and the first thing she grabs is a cold, squishy hunk of Elk meat! Kinda '' unsettled'' her a wee bit.

I use cold water and a tiny bit of bleach,, word of caution, had a friend use a detergent that had a fragrance, the smell of the soap stayed in the bags and was passed to the meat. When in the bush, I pack a few extras and will wash them in the river and rotate keeping clean bags on my moose meat.
