I'm still a few weeks out but I like being ahead of the game.

If anyone is curious how to shove 10 days of food and gear into a Sky Talus 6900. The load cell inside was perfect for all the food. Anything else left me a giant ball of crap.

Sleeping bag at the base.

10 days of food inside a load cell. Half Mtn House on the bottom, lickey chewies in the middle, the other half Mtn House on top.

Spare clothes
Sleeping pad
MISC gear
Kill kit

First aid and stove stacked on top the load cell.

Spotter on the left, rain gear/snacks/headlamp in the lid, puffy pants on the right pocket.

50.52lb.

Not bad for a 10 day, with spotter and bomber 2 man tent.

Could you pack the load cell of food using the meat shelf if you wanted too ?

Absolutely. However only 20lb on the shelf, with 40 in the pack including rifle is unbalanced. It just packed better this way, for me.

Figure food in, meat out on the shelf.

Daniel, that was helpful. I have the same bag and was wondering how I'm going to pack sleep gear for me and two kids. It would take about the same space as your food.

Yup I played with the grub a bit, using an XL pullout for my lickey chewies, and MTN house split into 2 bags and it just wouldn't work.

The load cell is the way to go.

I usually hunt from the house so I don't take much:

Bison Gear Lost River pack
-possibles pouch
-kill kit
-2 x Nalgene bottle
-binos
-sandwich or two, maybe a few snacks
-Copenhagen
-elk reed
-FL Vapor rain jacket

I use a BW recurve, four arrows with broadheads.

I think I'm running about 25lbs.
