Does a binos harness need to be waterproof? I was looking at some of the lightweight versions and a feature that is promoted is that they are waterproof. Is that really necessary considering any high end binos is totally waterproof anyways?

It's nice to have a cover to keep the pouch from totally getting water logged. Keeps a little fogging down. I used mine in the rain and snow today and left the rain cover off as much as possible though.

I think a bino cover is the way to go. 1. A goretex bino harness would be super expensive. 2. I think you'd find your glass would be foggy and wet longer because some moisture would get trapped inside the harness for longer...in other words I don't think it would dry out as fast if it really got wet.
