Denver Area 2 Day Hiking Spots?

I have a conference to go to in Denver. It will be my first time in Colorado. Conference ends at noon on Friday. Thinking about bringing gear and staying the weekend to do an 2 day hike / adventure. Any reasonable places near Denver with a rental car I could get to and hike in Friday afternoon then get to the airport Sunday afternoon? My goal would be able to glass some animals for entertainment while out and about. The trip would be second week of October.

Any advice on good locations that are accessible in rental car that time of year? I can rent a 4x4.

The second weekend of October is the opener for 1st rifle. If you want to glass animals, I would recommend somewhere they aren't being pressured by hunting like Rocky Mountain National Park. Lots of good hikes and plenty of critters there.

You could do a 14r like Grays and Torreys, just a few minutes West of town.
