Took my 2 oldest for a 2 night backpack trip a couple weeks ago. Was going to post some pics but Photobucket hosed me right after.

At the trailhead. Everyone is all smiles and still carrying their "packs"

A couple miles in at the Wilderness boundary. Still mostly smiles but no more packs.

Made it to the off trail lake. It was a long day for them but the view sure was nice.

Hiked some more to the top of the basin. Fun snow melt lake.

Great action shot of playing on the snow.

Decided to fish / throw rocks the next day. Got one nice cutty.

Had to beat feet back to the Tut right after the fish due to a hailstorm.

After it cleared we warmed ourselves and "nemo" over the fire.

On the way out. dubbed "dad status" by a group we passed. Thought that was a good term.

Was an amazing trip and I learned there are 3 phases of hiking with youngsters.
1. Running down trail, skipping and jumping off rocks.
2. Fighting over who get's to be in front.
3. Enduring the Bataan death march.

These phases can alternate at anytime and over very short distances.

Hilarious! And so true. Kid hikes take 'are we there yet' to a whole new level...
