2014 diesel Rams and Grand Cherokee's (same engine) had lots of issues with the emission sensors and it tripping check engine lights. I personally had to have my GC towed
to the dealer twice in limp mode, and had another dealership tell me I put regular gas in it- TWICE, (I have never been as close to wringing necks). Ended up having it in the dealership 11 times (3 diff places) before they finally got the patch software written correctly from Chrysler that would keep check engine light off. Of course this all started 11 mos into having it and Colo has a 12 mos lemon law- by the time i had it in the shop twice that 12 mos had expired. I will bet your carfax ststes that either because someone deleted it (smart if you dont have to get it emission checked), or the new software from Chrysler caused it to trip the -reprogrammed fault. Lots of guys have had luck with 14 Ram Diesels- but personally I would not buy that engine until atleast the 16' yr, seems like they have the bugs worked out since then.

Maybe the Ram 1500 has the same diesel as the Jeep, but a 2500 has the 6.7 liter Cummins.

Cummins engines have the engine computer (module) mounted on the side of the engine. They are an almost stand alone computer. Either way, replacing the computer wouldn't worry me at all about buying a diesel. The service intervals for oil and fuel filter changes would. Ask the previous owner about it. The dealership should be able to provide that info.

Just my 2 cents and worth the price charged.

Ram just released their 2017 eco diesel which is super late because of emissions issues, I bet the reprogram has to with their failing emissions much like the vw and this probably was the corrective action they have to make to void the be madness.

I don't understand why 'service intervals' would worry someone. My '15 3500 Cummins is 15,000 oil, filter and fuel filters change. Much more than most gas engines.

FWIW we couldn't get rid of our 2014 Ram 3500 6.7l with a diesel quick enough. Owned it for about 18 months and it spent more than 70 days in the shop. Aisin transmission would constantly overheat pulling a 3 horse slant aluminum horse trailer with one horse. This issue was never resolved. Everything electronic on the dash (instrument cluster, nav, hands free phone system, etc.) either stopped working at one point or another or didn't work properly. Power heated/cooled seats didn't work either. Service department at Dave Smith in Kellogg was deplorable.

Cut the cord on that pos and would never patronize Dave Smith again.

I work with guys who believe in the "change the filter and add a quart" mantra. They've done this to all their vehicles. Of course they sell them when then get around 150,000 miles on them.

I'm not necessarily worried that someone doesn't change the oil at exactly 5000, 7500 or even 15,000 (with oil analysis) miles. I'd be worried if maintenance wasn't a priority. I've got 332,000 miles on my 2003 Ram 3500 5.9 5speed right now as I prepare it for dragging a 24' heavy camper from Ky to Montana for an elk hunt.

Just my 2 cents and worth the price charged.

That's the lady I rode home last night. Interstate miles showed 22.3mpg coming home but idk how reliable that is in the dash

I would venture to say the vehicle had a chip kit.

When you certify a vehicle it has to be 100% stock. Therefore the chip kit with the adjusts on it must be removed and factory tuning and timing of the diesel pump is done.

It’s debateable if this truck was hammered , got tired, then traded. Some of those kits are big money. Friend of mine did his Dodge and spent $1800 on the kit and he did it all himself.

They normally start with exhaust issues like my friend did, then go from there.

Dodge is a tough engine , I’d be more concerned with tranny and rear from towing with the chip.

Beautiful Truck!!!! And they don't call the on board fuel MPG calculator a Lie-O-Meter for nothing. That looks just like my next truck. I'd love to have one with a manual transmission and manual transfer case and 3.73 rear axle. Add front lock out and it's perfect.

I test drove a manual that's what I wanted....very bad......It was sick compared to the auto. I've been told By many they was but I didn't believe it so I had to try it myself. I came home with a automatic.

This truck is a 2014 32,000 miles 3500 slt came with ram step rails, ram vinyl floor mats, linex bed liner, towing heated lighted mirrors, cab lights, push button start. 373 rear end. I Gave 38,500$ for it. Now I want a replacement bumper for it

Nice truck. We have '07 with the 6.7, manual. It gets an honest 20 mpg empty below 65 on the highway. Once the tach hits 2000 at 68-ish the mpg drops to 15-16 and it's loud as Hell inside.

Like the truck, 150K miles. Normal wear items so far. It's been dependable, knock wood.

Congrats on the truck I just picked up a 14 with about that for miles back in the spring and it's been great had a check engine light pop up but turns out that was because of a recall anyway.. over all I've been very happy
