Almost any of his books are good reads, ESPECIALLY while in route to Africa haha
They might make you a bit nervous sleeping though...

Funny, a friend just suggested that as well.
You'll love em. Very much able to re-read them too. His writing style is very addicting, makes you feel like you are right there.
Man, I tried the McCarthy thing and it just didn't get it's hooks in me. How far in until it gets good?Any of the Border Trilogy by Cormac McCarthy

Alive
Andrew,
I've really enjoyed books by Bear Grylls... his recount of being "The kid who climbed Everest" was great...also his book on boating across the North Atlantic.
Hardest book ever for Me to put down was Lone Survivor... read that over 2 days (and I'm not that kind of reader, usually a couple chapters a night)
Good Luck in Africa! Share pics!
River of Doubt by Candice Millard
Theodore Roosevelt's journey to the headwaters of the Amazon River
PBS did a documentary on it in their American Experience series
