Just curious is anyone here us running a Holland radial brake?

If so, how do you like it?

If not, what brake are you running?

Thx!

I’m not a fan of radial brakes for a variety of reasons. Been using and putting MBM 4 port beast brakes on all my customer rifles and they’re stellar. As good as any side port I’ve used.

Thx for the reply HC!

Care to elaborate why you dislike the radial brake?

The Holland is a three port with varying sizes while the MBM ports are all the same size?

Thx

I just put a holland quick discharge brake (side port) on my 7mm08. I really it for this particular rifle. Short and light.

Thx for the reply fellas!

Broz, besides the slab style brakes on your 300WM and 30N, which others have you run that have made the cut?

Currently looking for a brake that has a rounder profile for a Proof barrel.

My preference is less to no dust signature in prone, good muzzle control to spot shot and stay on target, less amplified noise to shooter.

Tough combinations I am sure.

Look at the brakes made by Defensive Edge. Have used them in the past and they work well.

If you have a carbon barrel get a T3 or a Christensen Arms Slayer.

My wife shot a 9.5 pound 338 Lapua 21 times in just over an hour with the T3 Terminator. But both are very efficient.

The only device that is going to check all of those boxes is a suppressor

All these folks make great brakes that are self timing if needs be.

Hey Ryan, about the T3.

How's the blast wave/signature back to the shooter?

I have shot brakes that felt and sound like I was next to them and it sux!

As Ryan said, The Christensen Slayer does it all and the tunable top ports are very nice. Or a T-3 is a great brake too.

Use common sense, if you are the spotter, get behind or back and in close to the shooter. As for felt percussion to the shooter, I have felt none even on big 338's and I have a T-5 on my 375 sending 400 gr bullets at 3150. Its a kitty cat. But as with all brakes that work, they can be a bit loud.

If you want to see the Slayer in action on a 338 sending 300 gr bullets from a rifle under 12 lbs watch this. CA ELR Review The brake portion with recoil video starts about 5:25 in the video.

I think the T3 has more noise to the shooter than the Slayer. But I think they are very similar in cutting recoil.

Thx gentlemen!

Agreed Jeff direct behind the shooter for me but sometimes terrain doesnt allow and I have to angle a bit. Common sense applies.

The self timing are nice but a bit clunky looking to me, purely aesthetics.

Although I wish I could shoot a rifle with each brake to make up my own mind but must differ to those with more experience.

Noise to the shooter is a consideration for me, even when wearing ear protection.

Gonna look into the T-series and Slayer some more.

Anybody shoot a West Texas Ordnance brake?

Keep it comin'

Note the Christensen Slayer (Side Discharge) comes with a crush washer for timing. If its a bit tight I just put the washer on a sanding belt and dial them in.

Hey Ryan and Jeff, with your respective 300 magnums running the Slayer brakes, how would you characterize the felt recoil?

More like or less like a 308 or '06?

Thx
