When you talked with the Provencial Fish and Game enforcement division, what did they say?

So I'm guessing you didn't ask the butcher in advance about shipping? I cant fathom pre paying for a service if I didn't disclose to the service provider what service I was requesting/paying for. I would've probably made sure all my ducks were in a row prior to leaving the country and prior to paying, especially since (correct me if im wrong) but documents need to be filled out for both exportation and importation for the meat/hide/antlers to make it through customs.

I'd probably just get on a plane and get my stuff back, but that's just me. Fly into Grande Prairie, rent a car, and go get your stuff. Hell the outfitter even states on his webpage that he'll pick you up. Maybe just have him deliver the meet to the airport?

Any pics of the bull/trip?

Outfitter told me this is who they use....period. There was no second choice. There are 50 beavers for every human here.

The moose would appear and disappear in the mist before becoming engulfed by the deep swamp.

My guide Jared was the nicest guy on the planet and the real deal. He worked harder than anyone I ever saw. A real purist...doesn't drink or smoke or swear or even do coffee! He'd be like, "Holy Smokes...that's a shooter! We gotta get dune thar fast eh?"

Moose country swallows you whole.

Sometimes they come out into the open. The Canadian backcountry is pure and raw and unspoiled…it is amazing. it will leave you breathless.

After many days of slogging it out through the swamps of Beaverlodge, Alberta, I got my moose. Big boy nearly stepped on me, I nocked an arrow while kneeling and attached my release to the string, looked up and all I could see were his legs at 10'! LOL

Can't begin to thank you enough. But the matter appears hopeless at this point. The butcher is no help and refuses to ship...period. Says he doesn't want the liability. Great.
The Outfitter stopped responding to me and will be living in Thailand or Taiwan for 6 mos soon. He has the meat and my moose head. At this point I am outta ideas. I've left 3 message with the wildlife authorities and they never reply. They are useless. Seems I'm pretty much f***ed.

I really appreciate your offer, wasn't expecting that and stopped looking at the thread...dopey me. Guess I was depressed that I couldn't my moose here for Thanksgiving. I'm outta ideas. The guy is so popular there, never imagined this happening. Thanks, you went above & beyond. Hope to return the favor sometime...may have to come to BC next time. <g>
With gratitude,
Bruce

Go get it and drive it home!

Even if I had the time, money and desire (which I don't) I wouldn't be able to get it anyway. He'll be in the tropics half a world away and the property will be locked up and under a blanket of snow.

I just got welcome news!
My moose meat and completed euro mount are packed and heading to the states. Outfitter apologized for being out of touch, says his season winds up today and he's been in the field. A taxidermist friend of his from Montana is driving my frozen moose to his shop (along with his moose) and will make arrangements to ship it to me from there in big Coleman 120qt ice chests which I can keep. So it should arrive sometime in the next couple of weeks and I'll have it all...he said he would send me a photo of the mount when he got home (was calling me from his truck at the time). So thank you guys...this is such a cool site and filled with great and generous people, I really appreciate the support. Looks like alls well that ends well. I just gotta remind myself the outfitter is pushing 70 and old school...gotta be a lot more patient than is my norm. Next post will contain an image of my euro mount with faux velvet.

If ya wanna hunt Canada, you have no choice. Gotta use a guide. Just got this pic in a text from the Outfitter. Not sure how I feel about this Euro mount...wish it were 60" or looked more like the photo above. Was told getting a bull in full velvet was something special and harder to do. LOL

You can always take it to your local taxidermist and have the velvet redone. Won’t be cheap (they will likely have to ship it to have it done)

Hair I got, hunting skills not so much but learning ever so slowly. Spot & stalk bowhunting is the most challenging thing I have done.

Just heard from the folks in MT, they are shipping me two coolers with my meat packed with 20lbs of dry ice Monday. My freight will run about $700. for 3 day delivery. I feel I owe this person a nice thank you gift for going to so much trouble, what would be a suitable gift for this? Any ideas? He's in the middle of nowhere so it's a hassle for him to do this. His small town (south of Kalispell) has 800 residents. Don't know anything about him except he's cool, mid 30s, married and no kids. Was gonna send a blackorvis giftcard but they don't sell em. I have another (possibly crazy) idea...hire a guy for 2-5 days to work for him doing anything he needs done. Cut wood, decorate, clean, run errands, whatever. My thought was this benefits two people, i'd sure like a prepaid slave this week. Is that nutty?
