  • Birds are out there, but scattered and will be tough without dogs. You can drive around with a ONX app and maybe see them on public, then hunt them. I have tried the walking without dogs and you can put a ton of miles on your boots without kicking one up. You can check out some of the pheasant mgmt areas on the G&F site too.
Lots of hiking in/around Bighorns with beautiful views but muley and antelope and even some elk units will be open...
Once you get there and drive around a bit you will see that there is a LOT of sight seeing to do. Wife and I just got back this morning from our annual summer flyfishing trip there. She is from Buffalo. I will be back out in Oct/ Nov for hunting... then move there in 2.5 yrs.
Micro breweries may be a bit of a drive. Casper or Sheridan. Trout fishing can be found in the Bighorns, Muddy Guard Reservoirs South of Buffalo and Bud Love Elk Mgmt area North of Buffalo. Trout do not favor the plains streams until temps drop as the water can be too warm. Hole in the Wall near K.C. for sight seeing.
You can just drive around and see elk, mulies and antelope day-in and day-out!
