I was thinking of just a heavy bottom as base and midweight for the top. Is that ok or do you need a light weight layer first? I've always used polypropylene for rifle hunts as my base in the past and it has done ok.
I just got back from the Flat Tops for muzzle and didn't see any elk or sign ~ 10K. There were about 15 guys archery hunting since the opener and they didn't see a thing. I did have an interesting encounter with a mtn. lion before dark. It was 65-70 degrees during the day and low 30s at night...
What is the best base layer to use in the cold and wind when sitting still for hours? I typically do ok with polypropylene from the mil surplus store as my base. Just curious what are some other options?
I'll be using round balls. I should get it out to the range here soon. What is good sight-in for these at 50? Couple inches high? And it should be good out to 100?
I'm not sure what the twist is. How do I tell? I do not see anything on the barrel. Just has Hawken .54 and doesn't say TC anywhere. Which conicals are recommended? Also, smokeless is not legal here. RS is FFG equiv I guess. I believe I have some triple 777 from years ago.
