  • Had this tag 2-3 years ago. If I had to do again I'd go up Pole Creek. Yes, an outfitter works that drainage but big enough for a bow hunter before or after the Muzzy season. (Or during. I was with my two buddies who had Muzzy elk tags). One thing, at that time you could take a motorbike in there 2-3 miles. Wished I would have known that before. Gives you a quick in to some awesome country and, our first night, a nice herd bull and 8 cows. Before we found this drainage I day-hunted right north and west where Pole Creek comes out and hits the road that eventually goes up and over to Silverton. The elk were up above the timber. Reminded me of caribou hunting elk. Tough to stalk bull elk in a herd of 30-40 with eyes and ears to match but fun! My two cents. Good luck!
