  • Hey there Dave! I'm in the process of moving up to the TriCity area. Was curious how the deer/elk hunting is within a 2-hour drive from there. Is there decent hunting over the counter in the area, even if it means cow elk? Any help is much appreciated!

Welcome! Within 2 - 3 hrs of the Tri-cities would mean east side elk tag and mule or whitetail deer. These are over the counter, but mostly spike bull only, with some antlerless archery. Most of the antlerless and bull tags are draw only and range from somewhat difficult for cow to nearly impossible for some bull areas. More coming....

Deer are over the counter for 3 point or larger bucks with some over the counter doe for some archery and muzzleloader areas. The best hunting is on private property which is a large portion of the east side. The regulations are not out for the next season, but should be out in April.

Also, the harvest reports for last season will be out sometime in April, but you can review the previous seasons on-line. Check out the
hunting-washington.com forum for some good information too. Moving for work, I assume? (Apparently, there is a word limit for these posts)
