What release are you hunting with 2023

Most likely the Stan Onnex thumb button with the clicker. It took me a bit to get my mind in the right place to shoot it, but when in a groove with it, I have found it more accurate than my hinge with the same level of control over the shot activation movement.

    Best 3 Pin Hunting Sight?

Love the Triple Stack, but for me, there isn’t a sight out there that matches the Option Canyon Pounder. Fantastic tolerances such that you don’t need to lock the sight down after sliding to the range you need. Best slider system that I’ve used. And the ability to switch to a single pin sight...

New to archery. My first arrow build for hunting.

Second the Victory recommendation. I’ve tried a lot of different arrows, and it’s tough to beat the Victory lineup.

Quiver on or off for western hunting

I either run a Quivalizer or shoot with the quiver off. I hate the balance of my bows with a quiver on, and it makes it even harder to shoot in any wind. Only time the quiver is on my bow is when it’s being packed. Will be using the Total Peep hip quiver adapter this season.

Something you wish you started earlier

I feel that Joel Turner’s Shot IQ course is about the best $250 you can spend to help get you off on the right foot. Archery is — more than anything — a mental game, and Joel communicates how to get control of it better than anyone I’ve seen.

    FNG SoCal

Just wanted to introduce myself as a new member from SoCal. I’m a longtime archery hunter and member of various archery forums, but had to step away from spending a lot of time hunting with the demands of law school and working at a large law firm in Los Angeles. I’ve recently reprioritized...

RIP XV experience? (Other light gpi suggestions)

Aluminum for me. Has been plenty durable and gets me to the exact final weight I want with 125 grain broadheads.

PSE Mach 34, Should have got this one first....

I’m on my second Mach 34 (a custom order with SE2 cams), and it’s easily my favorite bow ever. Even as light as it is, it holds as well as the target bows I’ve shot. I really like starting with the light bow and then adding stabilizer weights where I want them to get my preferred balance.
