    Kubota vs John Deere

Great choice going with Kubota. They are definitely the premium product in the <75 hp market and have excellent customer service and parts availability for the long run. I don't know if this was mentioned before, but for the smaller tractors, the Kubota is more "made in America" than the...

Bullet choice for 280 AI Accubond 160g vs. Hammer Hunter 143g

I have a healthy stash of Accubonds and Hammers. I am mostly a meat hunter, so I too like the idea of monolithic copper or bonded bullets to preserve meat. Plus, it's just fun to mess around with different bullets, etc. just to see what they can do.

Bullet choice for 280 AI Accubond 160g vs. Hammer Hunter 143g

I got out to the range to test the upper limits of the Hammer 143's with H4381sc. Below are 3-shot groups at 3095 fps and 3131 fps. Single digit S.D. and low double digit E.S. For the record, these were both right around 0.2 MOA at 100yds. Elevation is off 'cuz scope is still zeroed for 160 gr...

Bullet for whitetail deer from 6mm Creedmoor

    BTW barrel is 1:7.5 twist.

Bullet for whitetail deer from 6mm Creedmoor

Lots of votes for 95 gr Nosler BT, but nobody seems to have these in stock right now...

Bullet for whitetail deer from 6mm Creedmoor

Hunting in PA so nothing over 300 yds. Trying to decide between heavier (100+ gr) cup-and-core like Berger VLD/EH, ELD-X, etc. vs. lighter bonded bullet like partition, accubond, etc. What do you y'all think?

Bullet choice for 280 AI Accubond 160g vs. Hammer Hunter 143g

Yep. 100% I'd rather have a slower, well-placed bullet than a faster miss.

Bullet choice for 280 AI Accubond 160g vs. Hammer Hunter 143g

Update: I ran out of Winchester LR primers and had to switch to CCI BR-2. I repeated testing around 58.0 grains H4831SC. The best load for my rifle with 160 gr. Accubonds wound up at 58.0 gr H4831SC, CCI primer, Peterson brass giving 2875 fps with single-digit SD and ES and 1/2 MOA accuracy...

Barricade stop for Tikka T3x, not the TacA1?

I'm looking for a simple, screw-in barricade stop for my Tikka T3x hunting rifle. Currently, the cross bar on my tree stand tends to bonk the mag release button and drop my magazine when drawing a bead. This is very inconvenient, to say the least. A simple barricade stop would be perfect...

Bullet choice for 280 AI Accubond 160g vs. Hammer Hunter 143g

58.0 gr H4831sc, Peterson brass, Winchester LR primer. There seems to be a really nice node, since the 57.5 gr shot 2866 fps avg, SD 4.8, ES 11.7, and the 58.5 gr shot 2875 fps avg, SD 6.3, ES 13.8 with decent groups. This was just my initial trial. I will need to run more loads centered on...

Bullet choice for 280 AI Accubond 160g vs. Hammer Hunter 143g

I shot a ladder today with Hammer Hunter 143gr bullets over H4831SC. I got up to 60.5 gr of powder (3000 fps) without any sign of pressure. It looked like 60-60.5 would be a nice velocity node. I'll have to try some more loads at that upper range and/or try H4350 or RL23. Unfortunately, I ran...

Bullet choice for 280 AI Accubond 160g vs. Hammer Hunter 143g

Updates: My barrel is 24" with 1:9 twist. I think I have a good load for the 160 AB (see attached photos). Not necessarily the fastest, but you can't argue with the consistency. Next I'll work on the Hammers.

Bullet choice for 280 AI Accubond 160g vs. Hammer Hunter 143g

Thanks for the feedback on the LRX. FWIW, I've got a good load with 150 gr Accubond LR's worked up because that was all I could get my hands on a while back. I'm just a tinkerer so, I was thinking the extra 10 gr. of the 160 AB's would be a good thing for larger animals. I finally got hold of...

Best All Copper Cartridge for Whitetail Deer for a Tikka T3x 6.5 Creedmoor?

Old thread, but Sako makes monolithic copper "powerblade." Might be worth a try since you had good luck with the super hammerheads. Just a thought.

Sold Bergara B14 HMR 6.5 Creedmoor with Trigger Tech Special upgrade $900

Like new, <100 rounds through barrel. Great for target, varmint or hunting gun. I added a TT Special trigger which is $209. Truth be told, it originally shot just slightly above 1 MOA, so I sent it back to Bergara and their gunsmiths worked on it and now it shoots legitimately <0.7 MOA with...
