    Virginia public land.

I'm generally hunting east of you, but also transitioning to whitetail after being out west. I'll just say that the need to sit and be still is pretty rough, vs being able to more or less outwork your competition and find animals thru suffering and glass. My advice is to try and keep that...

Finding less pressure on Public Land

Opposite of my central MD experience. A lot of the WMA public land requires a reservation and you could be calling in two minutes after the dnr office opened and have a lot of the good stuff full booked all throughout bow season, start of ML, and a lot of days during gun season. Weekends suck...

    Packs for mobile hunting

In cooler weather, all day sits, longer walks where I might need more gear I've been happy with my MR Tree house. That said, most of the time when I saddle hunt and its warmer: I carry my wild edge steps in their bag on my shoulder, bow in the other hand. Bino harness has some extra gear like...

Early public land archery - field edges and stand advice?

Thanks - two follow ups, if we're expecting a wind out of the north (which is the forecast for the weekend), how does that affect what I might want to do in that "super thick area"? I'm trying to think about it for the morning and the afternoon. East west, either way, I think I have an idea...

Early public land archery - field edges and stand advice?

Here is my thought... It's public land, hunted every day mid September thru January, and I'd bet money at least half the other guys there on a given day (5 per day max) will be on/near field edges, so it seems moot as far long term education goes. But I'm new to this, admittedly... Sent from...

Early public land archery - field edges and stand advice?

Here is the map, with some markup, and an aerial. I stripped some info out because I don't know if locals will yell at me, but none of this is top secret, so .... My only scouting day: Noonish - I walked the field edge and woods, checked for trails in/out along the whole SE edge of property...

Sons first archery buck! How do I preserve the velvet?

Haven't done deer, but for caribou I left it in "freezer" (outside, since we lived in AK) for the whole winter once I knew it'e be consistently below freezing. 4 months later, even with a few thaw days, all was good. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk

Early public land archery - field edges and stand advice?

I'm a new whitetail hunter now that I live in the east and exclusively hunt public because it's what I've got. I flailed around a bunch last year, did some good learning, and even though I didn't get an archery deer I got close to a shot a few times... Things worked enough where I had some...

Center shot - moving rest vs yokes/shims

Got my cams straightened out, I think (twin cam, mission switch)... I had to add a lot of twists to the top right and take off top left and this got a shaft to sit parallel to the string. I'm glad it worked cuz I was just about three twists from having my top left split of the yoke running...

Center shot - moving rest vs yokes/shims

Thanks, and confirms I'm on the right track with yoke adjustments. Got the lean out using crappy DIY draw board that is moderately scary due to winch quality, so hoping when I restart tuning I'm much closer. I didn't mention how far out I was with the rest (and def NOT parallel to riser) when I...
