    Barneys Freighter pack question

Yeah don’t over think it. Small rope, lightweight ratchets, even bungees. We use whatever is handy.

    Kifaru 2020

I want to see more Xpac options of the classic bags. Think they could move to a lighter Xpac option as well and offer a couple colors. Coyote isn’t my favorite. Clashes with my sitka ensemble. Hahahaha. But seriously.

Tent suggestions for 3 in alaska

Best of luck. If you haven’t yet, check the caribou subsection for more info and maybe AOS for even more beta. Not a lot of trees up there.

Tent suggestions for 3 in alaska

What area are you hunting? This will determine what gear most locals would recommend. Much of the caribou habitat here has very few trees that would provide much fuel for a stove.

Traveling by air with large backpacks

They have huge plastic bags to put it in and sealed shut. Been traveling with big packs for 25 years. Never a problem.

    Help me pick a quilt!

Subscribed. Alaskan stomach sleeper. Looking at the Nemo Argali. Want a cold weather non-mummy essentially. I love the idea of the bathtub floor with integrated pad sleeve. I just hate mummy hoods.

    Whatever became of this?

Bugs in the fortymile caribou herd area Alaska in mid-August

This is a trick question. It honestly depends if the weather turns cold or not. I’ve been out there and it gets unseasonably warm and the bugs are unreal. It only takes a few frosty mornings to knock the population down to tolerable. A breeze has the same effect. Plan for bugs. Plain and simple.

Thoughts on this bag design (for SG frame)?

Would it make sense to add a small pocket on the bottom of each side to catch the bottom of your sleeve items (trekking poles, rifle butt, etc.)? I love the over all design.
